Is it worth it to change rigid ducts to flexible ones?
Good afternoon. We plan to install a ventilation system with our house. There is an engineering project where all the routes are calculated pipe diameters for a rigid duct (each line has its own line). There is an idea to replace rigid with flexible ones (for ease of installation) - part isolated, part sound-thermal insulation. The length from different rooms varies from 1.5 m to 13 m.
Is it worth it? The project has duct fans in the attic. Will a 13-meter route from a flexible duct be effective (naturally with maximum stretching)?

Hello! First, I’ll give you two criteria that you most likely will not like:
1. A flexible duct will have increased resistance, resulting in pressure loss.
2. More noise and vibration that will be created by the flow of passing air.
If the second paragraph does not affect the quality of the ventilation of the room, then the first is the immediate cause. If you want a flexible duct instead of a rigid one, you need a separate project.
You can’t just replace one material with another in your case, especially since there are rooms with a length of up to 13 m. Think for yourself how this will affect the quality of ventilation at home.
