Question 1 (probably the most important) - is there a land plot (cottage) with an area of about 0.5 hectares. I want to build a biogas plant (hands grow where necessary). How comfortable will it be for a person in the immediate vicinity of such an installation - in other words, will there not be a stink “on a hectare”? I understand that a lot of things depend on the design and build quality, but suppose everything is done as it should ...

Question 2 - but how, in fact, to clean such a plant from processed raw materials? And again, a sub-question: do you need a gas mask closed or can you get by with the open type?

And the last question 3 - are special bacteria required for biomass fermentation, or is it just a commercial move?

If “everything is done as it should” and the reactor turns out to be hermetic, and the dome of the biogas plant is installed not floating, but fixed, and the amount of raw materials to be laid will not reach maximum values, then the smell from the working plant will be completely portable and you will not need to wear a gas mask 🙂 But openings for loading and unloading of raw materials should be located below the liquid level in the reactor, that is, under a hydraulic shutter.
In order to safely remove the spent raw materials from the reactor for their own health, it is necessary to dig a container below the reactor into which the sludge is drained through the sewer pipe on which the crane (valve) should be installed. The pipe must be positioned so that the air does not suck into the reactor during discharge. This process is short-term and will not lead to anxiety of staff.
If manure will be used as raw material, then it already contains two types of bacteria - mesophilic (creating the fermentation process at plus temperatures from 30 to 40 degrees) and thermophilic (promoting fermentation at plus temperatures from 50 to 60 degrees). But when it is supposed to use some other waste, such as pine, as the raw material, the use of anaerobic bacteria will help accelerate the process of fermentation and gas production, so the proposal to use them is quite justified and is not a commercial move.
