Is it possible to put a coaxial chimney at a height of 30 cm from the ground?
Hello! We plan to connect a two-story brick house with a basement to the gas pipeline. We chose a single-circuit gas boiler with a closed combustion chamber (the boiler will be located in the basement). There was a problem with choosing a chimney.
We would like to install a coaxial pipe, but the maximum distance along the outer wall of the house from the ground to the pipe axis is 30 cm. Are there any ways to install a coaxial pipe in this situation? Or should we consider other options?

Good afternoon.
Your question is rather complicated and should be considered as a project rather, but you did not provide it to us. At the same time, such arrangement of the chimney in the regulatory documentation is only advisory in nature.
So, according to SP 42-101-2003 “General provisions for the design and construction of gas distribution systems from metal and polyethylene pipes”: “The openings of the smoke ducts on the facade of a residential building during the removal of combustion products from gas-fired heating equipment through an external wall without installing a vertical channel should be placed in accordance with the installation instructions for the gas-using equipment of the manufacturer, but at least:
- 2.0 m from the ground level;
- 0.5 m horizontally to windows, doors and open vents (grilles);
- 0.5 m above the upper edge of windows, doors and ventilation grilles;
- 1.0 m vertically to windows when placing holes under them.
The indicated distances do not apply to window openings filled with glass blocks. Placement of channel openings on the facade of buildings under the ventilation grill is not allowed. The smallest distance between the two channel openings on the building facade should be taken at least 1.0 m horizontally and 2.0 m vertically. ”
This is an application of PG 21 (advisory, not binding). In general, we have not yet really developed a set of requirements for coaxial chimney systems, a lot of gaps exist. Unlike strict vertical requirements.
I can say that your project is likely to be cut down in the bud due to non-compliance with fire safety. Here it is necessary to look regionally and consult with the engineers of a particular gas economy.Although I personally also do not understand how you will protect the chimney gas pipe from getting trash, frost, snowdrifts, children, pets and other things, 30 cm from the ground.
Aerodynamic calculations will also be required, they can also become the basis for failure. But here I am calm for you, because such work as installing a gas boiler is carried out by specialists with the approval and approval of the scheme, which is also developed by a person with a technical background.
There was another question that guarded me. There are questions on the arrangement of the boiler room, to which there are also certain requirements, according to the design documentation. The size of the room, the presence of a window, even if we are talking about the basement (by the way, relatively recently it was allowed to equip boiler rooms in premises of this type). But again, there is very little information on the issue. You should go to the gas economy at the place of residence, with the project documentation of the house and an approximate scheme of the boiler room, the exit of the chimney, consult.
